Vintage: 2005 Varieties: Cabernet Franc Area: Hawkes Bay Winemaker: Paddy Preston and Tim Preston Alcohol %: 14 Awards: 4½ STARS - Wine Orbit August 2007 Tasting Note: The grapes for this distinguished wine were grown in our renowned Mere Road Vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels of Hawkes Bay and hand harvested at ideal ripeness. They were destemmed and fermented prior to aging in French oak barriques for 18 months. Bottling took place on the 14th of November 2006. Richly perfumed, this Gimblett Gravels red has concentrated berry and spice flavours with finely integrated French oak and nutty, savoury characters adding complexity, on a backbone of ripe supple tannins. A harmonious wine with a long lingering finish. Ready for enjoyment now, it will also reward cellaring with even greater complexity.
