Tasting Note: The grapes for Mills Reef Chardonnay 2004 came from three specifically selected vineyards in the coastal Meanee area of Hawkes Bay. The fruit was harvested mid-April and received into the winery in excellent condition. The juice was tank fermented for enhanced fruit flavours and oak aged for six months. Thirty percent of the wine received malolactic fermentation, before final blending in October and bottling in late November.
This wine is made in a delightfully easy-drinking approachable style. Fragrant and full flavoured, it is fresh and lively, with ripe citrusy characters, a delicate seasoning of oak and a creamy-smooth finish.
