Tasting Notes:

The grapes for this fine wine were grown in three specially selected cooler coastal vineyards located in the Meeanee area of Hawkes Bay.  The excellent weather of 2007 growing season allowed the grapes to be harvested during mid-April at ideal ripeness and in excellent condition, with optimal berry and flavour development.

The juice was separated into two parcels, the first parcel being two-thirds was fermented in stainless steel tanks to emphasise fruit driven flavours and characteristics.  The remaining third was wild fermented in barrel followed by 3 months barrel aging to emphasise mealy flavours, oak seasoning and a lush creamy texture.

The two parcels of wine were then judiciously blended together, followed by bottling under screwcap on 12th of September 2008.

This delicious wine is made in a refreshing, fruit forward and approachable style, exhibiting intense and complex aromas of tropical stonefruit, melon, cashew nuts and subtle oak.  The palate is full bodied, smooth and harmonious with a deliciously rich array of peaches, figs, spicy marmalade and butterscotch flavours, a delicate seasoning of spicy oak, and a satisfyingly soft creamy finish.
