The grapes were harvested in several parcels at ideal ripeness during the later half of April, then 100% barrel fermented in new French integrale barrels. These barrels are specially designed to facilitate ferments whilst optimising colour, promoting softer tannins and enhancing complexity. Following fermentation, the wine was barrel-aged for 15 months in new and 1 year old French barriques and bottled on 4th of October 2006. Deep garnet in colour, this wine offers an intense array of aromas - black fruits, nutmeg and fresh forest floor beautifully integrated with spicy cedar oak. The palate is deliciously rich and silky with concentrated blackcurrant and blackberry flavours on a backbone of ripe supple tannins, lingering to a tantalizingly soft dry finish. |
